Tyson Fury didn't happen in a vacuum. He's a product of this social media driven edgelord grifter culture we bear witness to. Acting like a massive bellend on the internet has social currency now. Otherwise unremarkable people can start talking into cameras, post it on the internet and start cultivating a following. Because a large subset of people seem desperate to worship other humans and have a "saviour", there is a ripe market for these charlatans.
From fad diets to politics, there's an edgelord grifter for all of it. Why spend time educating oneself about geopolitics using well researched books when some edgelord with a TikTok account can spend a few minutes telling you everything is run by the WEF/Bilderberg/[insert latest multilateral boogeyman]. (For the dullards among you, this is an example, there are many others I could use.)
Don't mistake this for me saying Fury doesn't have genuine boxing talent. He does. He's also misshapen, ungainly and inconsistent. His fans overlook all this because they enjoy and are taken in by his edgelord grifting buffoonery. No one who wants boxing to survive should enable a person like this.
