Comments Thread For: Eight years into a plant-based diet, Bruce Carrington only misses fish

Bruce Carrington, who will face Enrique Vivas on March 29 in Las Vegas, says the reason he misses eating fish is because they haven't yet made a plant-based alternative to it yet.

It’s always interesting to see the different diets that boxers use.

Going vegan didn’t work for Canelo.

Steroid boy lost to Bivol because Bivol is a better fighter. He did not fade as the article implies, because of his diet.

Good if it works for him. He's probably better of for it. I prefer to eat secondary vegetables. As in, I eat animals that eat vegetables.

"Oatmeal with some peanut butter for protein, and mix some berries in there".

Is Bruce Carrington trying to make me puke? This should be outlawed straight away. But in the UK, there are vegan substitutes for cod and salmon, Bruce should get a personal shopper. I volunteer, as I could do it in bed whilst watching day time tv.

I try to eat 1.3grams/lb body weight or 240 grams per day for my 185lbs weight. It means eating just under three pounds of chicken/beef etc per day. It's very difficult. The only way I get close is by drinking whey protein shakes, even so, most days I fall short of target.

I can't imagine reaching that target with a vegetarian diet.

But when you see athletes like Djokavich achieve his level of athletic performance then it makes me wonder if high levels of protein are really necessary.
