I’ve always liked looking back at old HBO fight night broadcasts from the 2000’s when they bring up the graph of the current weight class landscape and you’ll see some fighters that they’re high on and they turn out to be duds and others have such a long road ahead of them but they end up shooting to the stars.
I vividly remember being stationed in Korea way back in 2014, finding out one of guys I worked with was into boxing and asking him what they thought about Crawford-Gamboa when it happened (I think it had taken place that year).
Crazy to think that THAT fighter (lil old Crawford) would 11 years later be on the verge of being in a mega fight with Canelo Alvarez (who in 2014 was fighting at 154 but since then gone above and beyond that weight class).
Who knows what it’ll look like in 10 years.
People were hyping up the Charlie and their careers stalled massively for reasons that still perplex me.
Joshua was seen as the torch bearer after that drop down drag out fight with Klitschko, only for us to find out that after that fight he became easily rattled or brittle. Jarrett Hurd was being touted as the African American version of Antonio Margarito…and he too, called by the wayside.
Same with Peter Quillin…all this hype and glazing over a fighter (simply because he had an ‘0’) and he disappeared after getting blitzed by Danny Jacobs in 1.
We boxing fans are elitists to most outsiders and yet we too don’t know what the hell we’re talking about half the time. Hard to predict a volatile up and down sport where trajectories are altered forever for a split second mistake and getting clipped.
That is how I see it too - very close decision to Crawford. I don't see a stoppage win. I also agree that he is very close to retirement. If the fight is controversial they might offer them another one otherwise Crawford rides off into the sunset. Either way Bud has one or two fights left in him and so does Usyk. They both retire in the next 12 to 18 months. Not so sure about the Monster. I think he fights on.

Usyk vs Dubois
Canelo vs Crawford
Inoue vs MJ.
Inoue is not meeting father time yet he is 32. He beats MJ.
Canelo will beat Bud on points, can also see a knockdown. Father time might have all ready caught up to Bud. 38 in Sept and didn't look dominant vs Madrimov who had 10 fights. But everyone forgets about that fight and concentrates on Canelo Scull as that is the most recent fight. Easier to judge a fighter on performances who fights more regular, than the one who fights once per year
Usyk vs Dubois. Dubois is full of confidence and on a good run. Yeah Usyk can outbox him and coming off big wins himself. But father time can catch up to Usyk who is all ready 38, happens to fighters in the past you see on top then that one fight around this age look like s*** then never the same. He moves a lot, if this fight he has slowed and father time catches up, may be more opportunities for Usyk to be caught, he isn't invincible he has been hurt by AJ and Fury and before, a good shot can hurt him and Dubois has the power to.

I don’t put too much stock into the Madrimov fight. Those styles aren’t easy to look good against. And before anyone says Vergil Ortiz beat him up…sure, styles makes fights. But it’s not like Ortiz had an easy time with him either. He was being peppered crazy in that first half before he just went balls to the wall and mangled Madrikov down the stretch.
Asking someone to look good against Madrimov or Scull is like wanting to put your fighter in a showcase fight and decide to put him against a prime 154 Winky Wright. Bad idea, son. Even if you win, you won’t look great. Maybe good, but not great.
