Big arms alone won't do **** for your boxing, BTW.

One inch on arm would be 5 pounds? One inch is really hard to get.. I guess if its all lean muscle and your biceps aren't the peak kind but the elongated ones. I guess if you're pretty tall and you fill up your whole arm one inch around instead of just the peak of your bicep, then maybe 3-5max would sound more reasonable. The strongest men have around 22-24 inch arms on average, and I think the average man (that weight lifts or participates in some sort of physical activity) has a 13 or 14 inch arm. I guess it all depends, who really knows, you know?

I think that its also depends on height. And yeah getting 1 inch to biceps can take like a year. Bicep is a *****.

Generally speaking, yes, you will have trouble gaining mass on any given bodypart if you aren't adding mass overall. This is why squats are the foundation of bodybuilding routines; they work 75% of the muscles in your body and can be a great mass builder when applied to that end. 10 to 12 lbs per inch seems excessive to me. I know some skinny guys with good upper arms.

I'll let you in on a little secret, though: your TRICEPS are 2/3 of the muscles of your upper arm. Wanna fill out your sleeves? Work your triceps.

My suggestion is, go to and do some serious reading in the forums and learn some **** about weights and what they can -- and can't -- do for your body. Those guys know just as much (and in some cases, just as little :wank: ) about bodybuilding as anyone on this board knows about boxing.

Pay attention guys, fraidy is right. If you want big arms you need to train the whole body with compound exercises and gain strength and size in the bigger major muscle groups. This will have a ripple effect and your arms will eventually get bigger.

Rule of thumb: For athletic performance functional muscle mass choose compound exercises that require your core/torso to move through space.
