one of my friends insists that lifting weights can cause shrinkage. he says lifting causes you to release testosterone and eventually you will have lower levels permanently. anyone here know for sure if this is true or false? i dont want any pseudoscientist answering this question. if you don't know, say so.

Alot of people add heavy heavy heavy squats and deadlifts to bulking phases because it will increase test production.
Doctors now recommend weight training to older patients and those over 40 because of increased test production that occurs due to it.
The way to permanently mess with your hormone productions is to introduce synthetics or outside hormones, steroids. Otherwise unless you have a hormonal medical condition you have nothing to worry about.
Your friend is just justifying playing World of Warcraft all day instead of working out.
Who made a thread asking if water makes you fat? lol

lol go find the ******est neanderthal in the gym and he'll tell you, lift heavy stuff, then u can lift more heavy stuff
aright lol i was being a deusch bag, I know u never said weights make you small, i dont think u came up with this on ur own
i get you on this:
your like wtf is my friend talking about, is their some fraction to a truth or some weird stipulation that he is slightly correct, somehow?
well, no. lift weights, you grow.
when i hear rediculously absurd **** it runs through my brain before i figure out its not true, it can be confusing to hear this, and some things register quicker than others.
ah, i think i know what he ment. are you kind of young? like not in highschool yet? its been believed that at a young age, before youve hit puberty that heavy, i mean intense heavy lifting supposedly stunts growth. youll still get muscle and what not, but it may mess up your hormones and you may not reach growth potential by altering growth plates and whatnot.
correct me if im wrong i dont know much about adolecents in weight training i just know the basics
funny story is i know a few kids from back in highschool, and they were the power lifters back in like 7th grade to get big for football. they were huge back then. now these kids arent even over 5'7'. DEF could be a coincidence tho. they used to try and push me around back in the day before i was into heavy lifting, but now im just as built, plus i got a half foot on them
sorry if thats not true and i made all of you ******er
all im saying is the younger you are relative to puberty, the more toil it has on your body.(just like the older you get, the more wear and tear starts to show)Last edited by GhostInMachines; 12-12-2007, 09:22 AM.

eh i shall not name names u can check it in my posts if u look in my profile, or look up "everyday?' i think or maybe another post, but basically he thought that water was detrimental to fat loss.. for some strange reason. he didnt say it made you fat, it just was bad for loosing weight, cause you gain water weight and get all bloated
