    Would anyone recommend doing this??

    Creatine?

    Im just trying to build lean muscle and get cut.....i just got on whey protein and its working pretty good.....was just wondering if anyone knows the pros and cons of creatine

    i dont want to add any water weight if thats what creatine does btw

    I highly recommend it.... it will help your muscles recover. Google search will get you some great info.

    You will retain some water though, especially if you load.... the loading phase is unneccesary.

      Well, sorry Ned but I wouldn't. Not for boxing anyway, maybe if he wants to be a bodybuilder though. It pumps your muscles with water, and it's vital that you keep yourself hydrated. I don't think you will gain any measurable strength from it, you'll just look bigger.

      For muscle recovery, your whey protein will do that. Make sure you're having your scoop before bed, and one when you wake. As well as the ones you will take either side of your workouts.

      With regards bulking up? Just increase the amount you eat, but it MUST be clean foods. Also, make sure you are eating every 2 to 3 hours, drinking lots of water, cutting out or cutting right down on saturated fats. This is a long process though, don't expect to see results overnight. I'm in the process of trying to bulk up, and it is working. But, very slowly.

        Unanimous, you said you are trying to bulk up and it is working, could you please tell me what your average weekly diet would consist of and your workout plan? I am trying to bulk up as well and just need a few ideas.

          I wouldn't recommend it either. It doesn't really give you any strength gains. It just basically retains water so you look bigger and leaner.

          If you want to use a suppliment just use whey protein. It will feed your muscles and help them rebuild and recover faster.

            I got my ideas for bulking up through a bodybuilding site funnily enough, given what I said earlier. BUT, I don't use creatine or any of the other crazy concoctions they come up with. Whey protein, L-Glutamin tablets and Flax seed oil is the only supps I use. Thought the bb site would give me good ideas and it has.

            Basically, I have pretty much doubled what I used to eat in a day. I've kept cardio at the same level I did previously although I have introduced HIIT for ever second time I'm running, it's important not to overdo cardio when bulking up or you wont see the gains. I have substantially increased my weights and bodyweight excersises and most of my bag work for the time being is drill work for strength and endurance.

            A typical training day for me would be:

            7am: Protein drink mixed with water. Banana

            7.30am: 30 minute run (3 mins running, 1 min walking, 3 mins running, 1 min walking, etc). On HIIT days, I then do 20 second sprints/30 second walks for 5 or 10 mins.

            9am: Protein drink (half scoop) mixed with water. Followed by Porrige & skimmed milk.

            10.30am: 2 Bananas

            11am: Porrige & skimmed milk

            1pm: 2 x Peanut Butter on wholewheat bread. Apple. Low fat yoghurt, with handful of millet flakes mixed in

            2.30pm: Protein drink (half scoop) mixed with skimmed milk. Apple.

            5pm: Potatoes, Mixed Veg, Couple of Veggie Sausages

            7pm: Wholewheat Pasta and tomato sauce. Bowl of millet flakes and skimmed milk

            7.30pm: Protein drink (full scoop) with water

            8pm: Workout. Comprising 30 mins weights, 30 mins bodyweight excercises, 30 mins on the bag

            10pm: Large Protein shake (2 scoops Designer Whey - Natural, 2 tablespoons Chocolate Ice Cream, 1 teaspoon peanut butter, 400ml skimmed milk)

            10.30/11pm: Bed

            Not saying this would work for everyone, but it's working for me.

              Ok cheers for that I think it will come in handy, one question though, how do you fit all that around work etc? and do you go to a gym?

                i am trying to lose weight and running alot. also some skipping now and again. also moving into a place that i cant hang the heavy bag up!

                just trying to build stamina and lose weight. anyone know any supplement that could help??

                  I fit my work around my food! Lol! I work in an office and thankfully I have access to a microwave, fridge and water cooler so that all helps with the food prep and storage. I've not joined a gym because I can't afford it but I have my own weights, heavybag & gloves. So, it looks like I'll never become a boxer. I'm doing this for my own fitness and wellbeing and I have to say, although I'm 34, I've never felt better.
