    Seeking conditioning advices.

I would like to start fighting again in the next year but the only thing keeping be back is my conditioning and cardio, i have good muscular endurance but i tend to get tired a bit faster when i move a lot in sparring. In the spring/summer/fall i run and that is fine, but here in the winter we get ****loads of snow and i just dont run during the winter. So, during the winter i tend to take a few pounds even tho i try to train harder, i do some stationary bike but it's not even close to being as good as running.

Does anybody have tips to improve my conditioning? Something equivalent to running that i could do during the winter?

    Thank you.

buy a used Concept2 ergometer (rowing machine) model C off ebay. the current model is the model D, but it would be way more expensive to buy one of those new, and the c is an exceptional device. concept2 is the ONLY rowing machine that is serious. i rowed crew for a few years in college and was the captain of the freshmen team, and i can tell you thats the only thing suitable to train or cross-train on as far as rowing machines go.

its great because its low impact (virtually stress free on the joints), yet its high intensity. plus, 'the arms away' is similar to a punch movement. the arm movement is in the sagittal plane, like a punch, although the concentric phase is a pulling motion, not the 'pushing' motion of a punch.

you can get yourself in amazing shape and its much cheaper than say, a brand new, quality elliptical. i know chuck liddell cross-trains on one.

i am currently training doing sprints on an erg (3, 2 minute 'rounds' all-out, one minute rests in between- just like an amateur novice fight), before i do my extended aerobic work (which is mainly for keeping pounds off) on the road, treadmill or elliptical. you could also do long pieces though to get a good cardio work out on the erg... i did a marathon on it once which was pretty intense. anyway, good luck!
