    @Mr tricky

    Hey mate, got my results today, im definately goin to university in middlesbrough! Which also means im gonna be wanting to box there too, i know we talked about it earlier this year, but would it be ok for me to train there and still fight for my gym at the moment or not? Is it gonna be ok for me to train there full stop?

    @everyone else

    sorry for the thread, people rarely check their pm's anymore!

    Cheers

    Welcome to the world of boxing whilst going to Uni'. This means you'll probably be training in 3 gyms through-out the year.

    1) Home gym. - It's very unlikely that they will let you register for them because you will be away 30 weeks + of the season. I know I can't, maybe if the gym know you well enough but i'd say the probability lies between 0 and 0.1.

    2) Away gym. - You actually train here for those 30 + weeks of the season, so essentially, your away from home gym has become your 'boxing home' gym. These are more likely to let you register for them, however, it is still possible that they'll say no simply because for Christmas you disappear for 3-4 weeks, at Easter you disappear for 5-6 weeks and then you're usually away from there for either the end of the season, or start of the next the season.

    3) Uni' gym - Some Universities have "boxing societies" which usually consist of wannabes going and hitting the bag, being taught by people who've done some boxing and are probably reasonable themselves but are by no means a coach. It's possible that your University might compete with others, I don't know how many do, mine doesn't but is looking to start soon - supposedly. But, from what I hear, they'll get massacred unless every Uni' is the same.

    As for letting you train, they should let you. I'm allowed, can only tell you from my experience. The problems lie with registering i.e joining their team.

    Cong**** on your results though.

      Cheers for the reply mate, i had a feeling it would be like that as i cant commit 100% to the training sessions, i desperately want to fight though at least once to see how i do!
