Hell, its easy to be demotivated. Right now its a sunny, hot Friday afternoon.....and I can't really be bothered doing my planned weights routine followed by 4 tempo miles on track in an hour and a half.

I'll bet you I don't wimp out though!

You have to make running enjoyable for yourself. Don't make the pace too hard or you'll hate it (at least when you're starting). Also, I found listening to a favorite album on an MP3/IPOD helps too.

Some folks really get off on beating yesterday's/last week's/last month's time on the same route so its always good to time yourself.

Plus give yourself a reward for training now and again......tonight mine is an Indian takeaway!!!!

Look here brother, nobody says that you have to run in the morning. You can run when ever you feel comfortable. I mix it up. Sometimes morning, sometimes evening or afternoons. I generally run five days per week, sprints included just to stay in shape. I turn into a fat **** if I don't....being that I am an old turd.

For you, since you say you're trying to get your body back into a semblance of shape after some abuse, should try what I call a run/jog/walk. Basically it is as it sounds - go out and start running until you can't anymore. Walk for thirty seconds or so and then carry on jogging.

Eventually that r/j/w, just do to practice will turn into a long run as your fitness level improves. Get yourself a jump rope also. But don't push yourself too hard in the beginning, you're still young and you've got time.

Seriously though, getting up in the morning is not a necessity. That should help you get started.
