When I was kid we raised chickens for eggs and also for meat. I don't know what people thought of us, we lived in Inglewood ffs, just a few miles from the Forum and Hollywood Park. I imagine there were complaints

Named him Pablo, had him for years before a damn dog my mom was dog sitting got a hold of it and killed it.

Currently have a conure,Indian ring neck,2 ****atiels and some finches. The Conure is a sun conure, beautiful and chatty while the ring neck is mean asf and will draw blood if you try n get that *****. Wife wanted a Macaw but as soon as we seen the prices at a local breeders shop I was like fuch that...$8K for an African Grey or Scarlett Macaw and $14K for a freakin Hyacinth!! Amazingly beautiful creatures but i"ll stick to my Panther Chameleons when I want to look at something that colorful.

OP,if you want to see some incredible birds of all kind, visit Birds N Paradise right off the 215 in Menifee. Its the breeders store front i mentioned above. She has to have atleast 75 parrots/macaws/birds of all kind just free roaming in her store. You walk in and if you let them, they'll climb on to your shoulders and just chill while you're walking around. A big ass Scarlett Macaw climbed onto my shoulders and was about to rip the button right off of my hat before an employee came and stopped him. Said its ripped off more than a few lol. Really cool place to take your family/kids,it's unreal.
Wow! You have good experience with birds. I think Macaws are beautiful birds, I've also heard they're pricey and live for a very long time.

I want to start small but I was reading how sensitive birds are to noise, temperature, sleep etc...

And thank you very much for the recommendation, I will 100% check that out very soon. Seems pretty cool.

They're not that difficult honestly. The biggest concerns are nutrition and if you get a sizeable parrot they definitely need interaction and stimuli. At night we cover them with cage covers. My wife chops up a bunch of different veggies and fruits, forget which, once a week and feeds them that along with store bought treats.

But yea man, when you can, take the family on a trip to that store, well worth it. There's a pretty cool little reptile store there in Menifee I go to as well,LLL Reptile right off of Newport/215.

Parakeets can be left alone for a few days as long as they have enough food in their cage.

Maybe get a friend to check up on the bird like three times a week, if you're gonna be gone for a while.

If you're interested in parakeets, it's better to get two, especially of you're always busy. Very social creatures.

They're really intelligent too, people don't realize that because of their small size and the fact they're cheap as f**k to buy.
