    What if COVID 20 appears?

It's 2021. We finally beat C19, found the vaccine, nobody dies from it anymore. Let's say the virus ended up killing million people worldwide. We're in the middle of a huge economical crisis caused by the quarantine. But Countries are fully reopened now , everything's back to normal, people have hope again

    But then 6 months later

Covid 20 appears and is as contagious as C19 and has the Same death rate. We have no vaccine.

    What do we do?

I'm young, in great health, and it is what it is. People die and this virus will continue to kill a lot of people. But that's just the way it is because at the end of the day, people die.

You do everything you can to prevent people dying. Hopefully countries will be more prepared. Only reason they had these lockdowns is because of the health services in countries weren't prepared.

There'll be another pandemic at some point whether its coronavirus or something else.

The world will be better prepared next time, its not like this was a surprise, scientists having been trying to warn governments about this for years and no one wanted to spend the money.

The odds of a similarly deadly but different enough covid to need a whole new vaccine rather than just a different antigenic target developing are pretty slim.

We should be trying to predict what zoonotic diseases could come from animals and preempt vaccines there has been very little study into bat coronavirus prior to this.

          This exactly.

Historically some sort of virus pandemic comes around every ten years e.g. Ebola, SARS, foot and mouth, Spanish flu etc

This one, shook us to our core and we will learn from it. We have to.

I’m very well now mate. Fully recovered, I will put a detailed post of my journey next week.

I’m not really obligated to comment on the global crisis, I’d stopped reading a lot on it when I was isolating. I felt it was rather destressing. What I will say for certain is that the whole thing is rather humbling and the sickness itself is challenging in the present but it helps when many others are going through the same (in a weird way.)

I don’t want to be overly expressive, I’ve been very lucky, my strain was clearly not the worst. For a period of 3-4 days it was incredibly difficult, outside of that, the remaining 9-10 days were not the worst.

I’ll explain further shortly, thank you for asking.

                  It could appear tomorrow

Then we would be truly in a pickle

Hopefully it causes countries around the world to rethink their relationship with China. It's overtly hostile actions in the south China sea, treatment of **********, and now this mismanagement and possible creation of a worldwide pandemic.... It's a truly toxic country and the world needs to fcuk it off...
