    My fight with Racism

I have been struggling to accept the fact that my views/perception towards African Americans is evil. I was not always like this neither was I raised this way. As an American I was raised as a child in the carribean. The island my parents are from is a mixture of all skin colors but the same way of life. I got along with everyone and never even thought in why people were of different color. Racist thinking never even crossed my mind until my early 20's when I joined the army. I was called a $pic by 3 African Americans who later tried to befriend me. I grew a sort of hatred towards blacks and learned as much as I could to use it against them. I have met very humble African Americans throughout my life but can't seem to appreciate who they are for many years. I almost feel that they know this when a locking of eyes occur. I have literally no black friends yet believe in my heart that we are all equal and God wants us to embrace each other. Any input, thoughts from you guys would be welcomed and appreciated.

I think there was much less racism in the times of Jesus?? Racism limits growth. America is a melting pot for sure. I think one of the biggest dividing forces is wealth distribution, religion, and our cultures we tend to cling to and carry with us.

I have a lot of friends of all races, and we sometimes run each other. There are sub groups that I don’t understand at all.... ultra Orthodox ***s being one. They are weird in my book. I’m sure we read the same book differently.

I know guys from Africa and they are quantitative analysis gurus. Many look down on African American culture and how certain sub groups perpetuate the gangsta lifestyle. Same goes for other races that have a hard time keeping their culture and religions in check.

I think some PRs of African decent suffer from some kind of identity crisis. I know a few Puerto Rican’s that won’t admit they are black. I think black ppl see this and it causes them to lose respect for Puerto Ricans. They probably think they are uncle toms. I think the first step is to admit that you might be black your damn self and this might help you build some kind of connection between yourself and African Americans which can help you realize that your hate is counterproductive to your well being. Just my thought not trying to disrespect you or anything

This whole racist thing is a load of crap, hell yes we are different we all see it and we all know it. why must we be cool with those differences?

Blacks can run, Mexcans can't, that is a simple fact of life. Blacks can play them blues, Asians can't.....simply another fact of life.

I get so tired of the bull****, just watch a basketball game....BOOM!!!!!!!!!...there it is.

Blacks don't get along well with other blacks, stats prove that.....fact. They battle among themselves and they bail on their kids. Simply facts backed up by stats.

Ok, why worry about getting along with a race? When it comes to relationships it's about the individual not race. I have buddies in every race, not a problem at all.

you bring up an interesting point. I met Africans from Ghana whom worked as cleaning crews for our bases in Iraq. They disliked African Americans but they never mentioned why. My guess, how African Americans behaved. On the topic of ultra Orthodox ***s, idk much about them other than the fact they are a very private group of people. This only from my experience while living in Connecticut.

We all should! But I wonder, have you ever/never felt a certain way about someone outside your race based on their actions? I think at a certain time we have all felt a certain way or said something demeaning towards another race.
