Was Thomas Hearns a p4p fighter?

    He was only a great fighter at welterweight, where he would certainly do no better than #3 all time, but more likely would land somewhere else in the top ten for the division. Gavilan would have outboxed him. Mickey Walker will KO that chin. A prime body snatcher might have knocked him cold as well. At middleweight he would not make top 10, and in higher divisions would fare even worse. I expect Calzaghe would have boxed him to death at super middle, and Joel was no world beater..

      Great fighter, ATG yes. Fought in an era when the comp was some of the best and people fought each other.

      Hearns had his faults, his chin, his body, but on any given day could compete with the best and legit had one of the very best jabs in the sport ever.

        I remember thinking, all Virgil Hill is, is a great jab and with Hearns that's going to be a problem, because Hearns will (and did) out jab him. The fight was a jabfest!

          Hill was a cat who stayed at the top for a while and had very little ability. He was a decent boxer with not much speed and not much punch. And he is no more injun than our own Bilbo is.
