Why is Leonard not given credit for boxing rather than slugging?......Rockin'
You're asking Queenie to understand "smart"?

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with Queenie. There's a reason he's called this section's kickball.

Hagler's weakest category was ring generalship.

      Why? Why?

Why, after all these years, do names like Hagler and Holyfield generate red squiggles for misspelling, on a boxing forum of all places?

Our mods need to get busy, fix it, and earn some of their big money rather than stealing their customers' points.

Clearly by the final scores he needed those two rounds.

I know what the official scores were. The actual fight wasn't THAT close.

          - -Boxing a unique sport entirely dependent on the eye of the beholder since rd x rd scores are kept hidden from the public, ie fans until the contest is over.

No major pro sport keeps 3 score cards in private like that. They have large updated play by play scoreboards accessible to fans with one score only, ie transparent.

Not cloaked in secret clusterfests where where the dolts often can't do the grade school numerical tallies and alter the results after the fact.

Officially Duran vs Hagler was close as I demonstrated. Unofficially people all over the map with most going Marv edged it.

What was your score? Marv wide?

Keep in mind this the Duran rubber version that Sugary ducked, thus his washerwoman performance against Marv that nobody wants to watch.
your still trying to convince people that Leonard avoided Duran in 1982 or 1983 lol......I will explain to new people so they know the full score ....in November 1980 Duran turned tail and quit on Leonard in mid round 8 ...turning his back to leonard uttering the words NO MAS and humiliating himself in front of millions of viewers world wide.
After the fight Duran went into exile and was disowned by his own people....it took 9 months for Duran to return to the ring.
He had two meaningless fights and then lost two fights back to back in 1982.....comprehensively outpointed by Wilfredo Benitez and then fringe contender Kirkland Laing.
Benitez beat him jan 1982 and Laing in September 1982.
In March 1982 Leonard suffered a detached retina when training and then announced retirement in may 1982.
Again queenie your making stuff up that didn’t happen.
There was no avoidance by Leonard because Duran had his ass handed to him 2 times from November 1980 to when Leonard retired.
Again I am the fact checker putting liars in there place.
            Merry Christmas everybody.....Boomyakayak

He is given credit by real boxing people ..your talking about the boxing scene fruitcake with queenie....leonard won best comeback of the year 1987 , best fighter of the year 1987 for Ring magazine....turned the boxing world upside with his near impossible victory over hagler when almost every media outlet picked a blowout by hagler...Michael Katz was the only expert who picked leonard.
Leonard used his superior skill to outbox hagler period....it’s a skilled sport not a tear up in your local boozer.
Queenie should not be let out his cage it makes the internet dangerous

Must be because This was the 2nd in a blizzard of fake retirements by Leonard.

He played U like a drum!
Rules are rules Queeny, but it's nowhere in any officials manual. It's implanted in to a fighters mind and then executed in sparring and the actual bout (or should be).

And I know that Hagler knows a lot about this, you do not become Undisputed Champion of the World not knowing it. The fighters manual: Cutting Off the Ring.

I've seen Leaonard speak of what was the essential timing of the event. Hagler had been through wars, WARS! Imagine fighting Thomas Hearns, John Mugabi and then Ray Leonard. Back to back to back! And through his wars Hagler aged, and Leonard saw this wile he remained retired in comfort sustaining no damage. Leonard was simply a step faster and that little bit fresher.

I remember the boxing clubs manager taking us to a movie theatre to watch it live. I remember thinking "Why won't you let nothin' go"? He gets there and Leonard sticks him and moves out the way. He gets there again and it's the same, all night long.. I had the feeling that Hagler simply didn't want to look bad, or foolish, while leaving the theatre. As a champion of the world who would want to ever......

But having aged since that time and learning some things abut Hagler, I learned that Hagler was a top all, proud. He was just too old for Leonard on that night. I still can't see a reason for Hagler getting nothing off, except for that step............Rockin'

                    - -OK, U plunging uself down U own toilet.

The public wanted the rematch. Duran couldn't easily drop the 50 lbs on the Leonard schedule that led to Duran inhaling 3 steak dinners after weighin that led him needing a dump in the middle of the rematch, all documented. The rubber would've been bigger thanc

lol. No lie. I was literally just reading the thread and thinking, "Queenie should just be put in a cage and never heard from again..."

Then saw your exact words! I kid you not
