I wonder why he feared Rahman so much.

YOU ask, "Who wrote this"?? It's obvious who wrote it, it was Don King Productions, sneaking in as DKP (at the top of the article) Needless to say the whole piece of crap is mainly a lie relying on heavily distorted propaganda. For several reasons. First, Klitschko's people thought he'd got a thigh injury because he'd been jogging when he felt the pain. Second, when it didn't heal in the time that pulled muscles usually do, they had a CT Scan, which showed that it was really a spinal bone spur overgrowth, which pinched the sciatic nerve running to the thigh. He needed, and had surgery. Third, this wasn't an INJURY, but a naturally occurring body happening which millions of non fighters get all the time. Fourth, Larry Merchant confirmed all this with the operating surgeon. Fifth, none of the dates after the April postponment was signed, sealed and delivered, as they were depending on arena availability, TV and many other things falling into place etc. No contracts for these dates were signed, nor arenas booked, nor tickets and advertising issued. the dates were all "suggested", and speculative. When Klitscko finally recovered fronm the surgery and his people were able to fix a definite date and venue in September, King came up with the "interim" thing, which increased his personal "cut". Klitschko protested the Rahman-Barrett fight for 2 reasons, one being that an "interim" Champ could get up to 45% of the purse, instead of the normal challengers 25%. Second, Rahman-Klitschko was to take place at the end of September, and Klitschko was concerned that if Rahman fought Barrett 6 weeks before, he wouldn't turn up for his September fight with Klitschko. To this latter, I HEARD Don King, AND Rahman both say that even having fought Barrett in August, Rahman would be willing, able and ready for the September fight, that there was a 6 week space. Neither Rahman nor King ever mentioned the September fight again. As for the final injury (the only REAL injury that Klitschko suffered in all this) which caused Klitschko to retire, it occurred because the legs of Klitschko and his "prelim" sparring partner became entangled and they both fell. It was well authenticated, and medically discussed in many publications that he'd cleanly snapped the interior (behind the kneecap) central cartilage connection joining his upper and lower leg together. it was a very serious injury requiring complicated surgery, with NO guarantee that he'd ever be able to fight again. In fact several doctors are on record, as I recall, who said that it was unlikely that he'd be able to fight again. So.......King is his usual, lying, bombastic self, asserting that Klitschko was knocked down (when it's WELL KNOWN that he's NEVER been knocked off his feet) etc. etc. The reason (which mystifies King so much) that the WBC made Klitschko their Champion Emeritus, was for the reason the WBC said, which anyone can look up and read. They appreciated his dignity and honour which prevented him from strapping on a brace, hobbling in for a round or so and then retiring, whilst taking an $8 mill purse, and cheating the fight fans. THEY APPRECIATED IT.........And King is his usual lying self.
