Why Are People Acting like Golovkin is Washed Up?

When I made the thread about who Charlo should fight next, Golovkin got some votes.......But then you multiple people saying they did not want to see that fight since Golovkin is 38 years old and clearly looks past it. Then you have plenty that think Canelo just completely whitewashes him in a trilogy and will stop him. Where is this all coming from? Golovkin being competitive with Dereveyanchenko means he is washed up? Dereveyanchenko is a quality fighter who gave Jacobs a great fight to the point many thought he won and then gave Charlo a nice fight. Just four years ago, Golovkin and Jacobs fought a really good tight fight and Derevyanchenko looks to be on the level of Jacobs. So is there any shame in Golovkin being in a tight fight against him? He is still KOing the likes of Rolls and other non-top 10 MWs the same way he has always done.

Golovkin is still a bad a$$ fighter and he's going to give everyone hell. I don't see many if any just completely washing through him. Canelo may beat him decisively or clearly in a trilogy but do I see him stopping him? Nope. And I feel and have felt for at least three years that Golovkin vs Charlo would be a complete WAR and FOTY candidate. I feel as confident for that fight delivering as pretty much any other minus the lower weight classes.

And just curious, would you prefer Golovkin to move up or stay at MW?

He's 40 & even in his prime, he was a weight bully that never fought any great boxer.

He's past his prime although I don't think he's that far past his prime. He's deteriorated a little, but he's always been slower and there to be hit. Kelly Brook really exposed him and after that fight people weren't scared anymore.

Well there's no shame in being in a tight fight with Dervenchenko, but what I can say is that there IS shame in is when you have another man at middleweight, his name is Jermall Charlo, who absolutely dominates Dervenchenko, and then guys still talking about how he needs to "earn" it and doesn't deserve to fight Canelo. That is where the true shame is

Golovkin is still great, yeah he is a little past his best now. He beat a prime Canelo in the first fight and deserves massive respect for that. Arguably won the second fight as well, but that could have went either way.

Charlo beat him more clearly than GGG or Jacobs but I don't think by any means he dominated him. Clear win but he had to work for it.

Agreed that it is BS that Charlo needs to earn a fight with Canelo. BJS nor Smith did anything recently to deserve a fight with Canelo minus having a belt at SMW.

He may be deteriorated some, but he's still really good and people talk about him now as if he's the version of Povetkin we watched yesterday lol.

I'd rather see him face Canelo than these idiots he's facing now. I don't think GGG would win at this point but at least he's been able to keep the fights with him competitive and when you go into the decision you don't know whose name the judges will read. Now these guys he's fighting don't stand a chance. He needs to fight real comp and Id rather GGG than Smith, Yildirim, Saunders, Plant. But Charlo and Andrade are the ones I wanna see. I hope GGG will grow some balls and fight Charlo or Andrade since Canelo won't.

Well plenty of his fans wanted to see him face canelo a 3rd time after a real tough fight, while canelo swerved it. Canelo was the consensus best guy in the division, what bigger risk was there?
