    By Keith Idec - SAN ANTONIO - Five-and-half-months after he narrowly won the WBC featherweight title, Mark Magsayo lost his 126-pound championship in similar fashion Saturday night. Rey Vargas defeated Magsayo by split decision in their "Showtime Championship Boxing" main event at Alamodome. Judges Tim Cheatham (115-112) and David Sutherland (115-112) both scored their back-and-forth fight for Vargas, who lost 114-113 on the scorecard of judge Jesse Reyes.

    The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will feature hard-hitting former world champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa taking on Carlos Castro in a WBC Featherweight Title Eliminator bout in the co-main event.

    Plus the Derrick James-trained, unbeaten lightweight contender Frank Martin battles the Dominican Republic’s Jackson Mariņez in the 10-round telecast opener.

            Rashidi Ellis got a 1st rd KO of late replacement Jose Marrufo on the pre-lims. Hope Rashidi can get a bigger fight next, someone like Anthony Young or Mykal Fox would be solid
