I will not go down the "corruption" rabbit hole. I am not close minded to the fact there has been some proven and that there is still some out there. But i focus on the idea most of the judging is just poor. I have always though 2 changes pretty much eliminate most of the ineptitude:
1) Make judges available before the fight they are judging to the press, where they must answer questions about what is important to them in a fight. Than make them available afterwards to hold them accountable as to what they scored. That judges are shielded from personal responsibility to the fighters who secure their jobs is unforgivable to me.
2) While I completely get commissions are run by states and actually believe that is better, I do NOT think judges should be. Uniformed educational requirements between commissions and a standard of accountability would put these judges in the place where they understand a simple concept of being competent or be unemployed. I know this is a silly pipe dream, but it would do a great job of weeding out the worst judges or at least get judging more uniformed. I cannot STAND these cases of 2 judges seeing a fight within two rounds of each other and one seeing it 8 rounds different. How is any boxer or his corner able to adjust if there is always some judge scoring the fight 10-2 while the other two see it more like 7-5?
Just so infuriating as a fan. I can only imagine how it must eat at a fighter who trained for months.
