Comments Thread For: Trainer Shields On Jermall Charlo: He's Back To Where He Was Before He Left; See It In His Eyes

By Keith Idec - Ronnie Shields was beyond concerned. Jermall Charlo's longtime trainer knew that the WBC middleweight champion needed some guidance while he was trying to work through the mental health issues that contributed to this lengthy layoff. That direction had to come, the way Shields saw the situation, from an iconic boxer that Charlo admires and respects.

Looks like his mind was somewhere else during the conference to me but he had to fight at some point. Benavidez is an easy comeback fight and stoppage. Hopefully he gets his family matters square away. He's with all the relevant guys at 168 and they need to fight each other.

    andrade
    plant
    morrell
    benavidez
    charlo
    munguia 80-0
    bazinyan

this is 154 over again but these dudes aren't fighting each like 147.

Benavidez is a lot better than he is given credit for, I expect Charlo to win because of his class but Benavidez has always had the ability to compete with top guys he wont go easy.

Glad to see Jermall back and healthy. There are more important things than your career. God first, health and family.

Charlo should have left this trainer long time ago. He's got a powerful influence on Charlo avoiding fights like Jacobs, Andrade, Canelo when they were offered. Same trainer who prevented the Morrell/Benavidez from happening saying Morrell shouldn't be rushed. Losing once is a huge no no to this trainer. Forgetting the fact that losing should be a learning experience rather than seen as the end of the world.
