Comments Thread For: Golovkin: I'm Ready, I Want Canelo or Cotto Next

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Gennady Golovkin stopped Willie Monroe Jr. scored three knockdowns before securing a sixth round knockout to retain his WBA/IBO middleweight titles and his 20th consecutive knockout victory. Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) dropped Monroe twice in the second round and again in the sixth round. After rising up in the sixth, Monroe indicated to the referee that he had enough, as a Southern California crowd of 12,372 cheered on the win.

Afterwards, Golovkin called out Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, who defends his belt against Daniel Geale next month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. [Click Here To Read More]

Not happening. Time to go to 168 and seek greatness.

It's not gonna happen. Canelo might fight him but Cotto definitely won't.

            I agree.

Cotto will not fight him even if GGG comes out without 2 knee caps. That said, I kind of understand. Cotto has no business being killed in there. All he has to do is stop holding the title hostage (nice achievement, now move for the good boy) and he's forgiven.

Canelo will. GGG just has to be patient or move to 168.

That'll be his excuse when he fights Brandon Adams next. "Canelo and Cotto wouldn't fight me."

It's funny how he says he doesn't want Canelo in the future, he wants him now. But when faced with the Ward question, he cops out just like Canelo did, "in the future".

I'll take Canelo - GGG before anything having to do with Cotto. I'd be surprised at Cotto being competitive in either. He's just too shop worn. Too many wars. His face swells up and gets calluses after 3 jabs.

Pigeons, stop acting as if 100 people on this site haven't already addressed the ward situation. Ward is coming off of a close to 2 year lay off,and he himself and his coach said that he needs 2-3 tuneups before he's back to fighting at top level. Right now he needs to shake of the ring rust, and develop a name for himself again, because right now he probably can't draw a crowd, even in Oakland. Ward has asked that if GGG isnt going to fight him soon, that his name be kept out on conversation, and GGG respected that tonight. On the other hand,if GGG takes on an inactive ward, and beats the crap out of him,I'm sure all of wards fans would be crying out" oh,but GGG didn't let him get tuned up first". Ward needs to decide if he's going back to 168,or if he's going to 175,because last time I checked,172 isn't a weight class.
