Who has a better defense? Marcos Maidana or Lucas Matthysse?

Joel Diaz on Bradley sparring Matthysse: "he has great defence, you throw 10 punches you might him once or twice". "Real strong fighter, he's something else, he can box"
Around the 4 min mark.

i think chino got a lot better with robert, but imo lucas is the better boxer. vs provo he got caught in the eleventh round, and in that fight he threw twice the number of punches he usually throws (over 1000), he was getting tired. he was making garcia miss a lot while he had both eyes. these guys are not floyd, they are gonna get caught at some point anyway.

With Maidana, the way he fights he puts himself in a position where he's hard as hell to hit because his head is buried in your chest and ****.
I feel like Maidana puts himself in a position where he's way harder to hit when you let him impose his style. Conversely, Matthysse is always throwing bombs from the outside and getting touched up in the process. That's why I'd say Maidana has the better defense overall.

Both have a very underrated defense.
I would have to go with Marcos though because of his more aggresive style and how well manages to not get hit. I mean, Maidana made Floyd look like a fool at times in the 1st fight.

Maidana's aggressive style puts him on a position to get hit alot more than Mathysse, he prefers to stay in close.
That being said, i saw alot of improvement during his fights with Mayweather, specifically head movement and how controlled his distance pretty well in spots against Mayweather, backed him up against the ropes in the 2nd fight, unfortunately FLoyd ended up having to clinch everytime.

And note that Matthysse has faced the better opposition and the bigger punchers.
EDIT: outside of Mayweather.
