If you get offered a fight where you are clearly being cherry picked by a far, far superior opponent, I don't know what some people expect?

Smith just did a journeyman, limit the damage type performance, that was it.

The blame for this is NOT Smith's.

100% of the blame should be directed at Roc Nation for their atrocious treatment of a man who is about to go into battle.

I hope moving forward they learn a lesson from this. Personally speaking Roc Nation (and almost all other US promoters) should look at Matchroom, the British promotional outfit, who make it a priority to ensure BOTH fighters are looked after.

Now, because of ill treatment, Paul Smith is on the end of a terrible decision and a loss is marked on his record.

I will tell you this right now, soberly and without ANY doubt....had Paul Smith been treated with respect then he would have beaten the Rusty Ward on Sat. Ward's team clearly knew it, Roc Nation CERTAINLY knew it and ensured every possible thing was done 'outside of the ring' to jeopardise his chances.

      An absolute disgrace

What are you on about mate?? Take your blinkers on and stop supporting blindly. I support Paul too but even he knows that he didn't do enough on the night. To say the RN is 100% to blame is just pure drivel. There has to be some level of individual responsibility.

How on earth can it be Smith's fault? You do know he's been scripted at the post fight press conference, right ??

RN treated him like something they trod in on the street. This is man with a young family and their livelihoods to protect.

Andre Ward is as guilty as RN. As a supposedly follower of Christianity it stinks the place out. No wonder Smith didn't win, he couldn't decide which one of Wards TWO FACES to smack.

so roc nation is responsible for smith coming in over weight, and looking like a low skilled punching bag against ward, which is what everyone thought he was. Smith could have the greatest camp be in the greatest shape of his life get the best treatment from roc nation and have the best boxing night of his life and still be 4-5 levels below ward. You are a clown.

... At 168, Ward will face a similar opponents' reluctance to fight him as GGG faces at 160, but emerging from different reasons... At 160 they are all afraid that they are to be KOd by GGG... At 168 they are all afraid that they are to be 'outboxed' by Ward -- because Ward isn't actually 'dispatching' people, he only does enough in order to win all the fights instead...

ward signed up for the super six, which put him on the p4p list. bute could have signed up for the ss. his people wanted to take a free shot at the winner after knockout out cans while the top contenders in the division beat each other up. i don't blame bute's people. it was a smart move. i don't blame ward's people for not giving them a free shot.

if you remember, bute was HUGELY overrated, and was knocked out by a guy ward outclassed. how much of a risk was he, really? i'm not talking about how much of a risk the brits thought he was. they don't know boxing, as evidenced by their alleged lack of willingness to pay for ward - froch in wembley, while paying for froch groves 2

if froch fought rodriguez before ward, the little limeys would be singing songs about how great that win was. same with dawson.

What a load of garbage. Ward is little known to casuals in the UK, whereas Groves, from association with David Haye and his fight with James DeGale, has an active following.

I've seen a few posts of yours pursuing this line - Froch cannot fill Wembley stadium alone. He requires an opponent who also has a fan base - something, evidenced by Saturday's outing, that Ward lacks.
