I'm baffled every time I hear him brought up. Yes, he beat cotto. But that version of cotto was the epitome of an off night and it's not like trout looked like some killer anyway. Since then he's lost to Canelo and beaten nobody of note and actually looked poor doing so. So, why is he ever mentioned? The best part is, his name is brought up to bolster Lara's resume. That's how **** and unaccomplished Lara is. The guy won't even fight anyone decent in his one division but he's supposed to actually want to fight golovkin? At this point I hope they make that fight just so I don't have to hear all the idiots on here mention him like he's a threat. After he humiliates him they'll bring up some other non-threat that he's afraid. They did the same thing to Floyd and it's just ridiculous.

Styles and skills make fights. That's why they fight the fights, not just some armchair speculations. What's the alternative, Lemieux 2? No, thanks. I was OK with Johnson. Let's see something new. K2 needs to think out of the box for once. (The fight I really wanna see is against Ward at 168.)

I'm neither a Lara nor Ward fan, by the way, but I can appreciate their overall skills. Your boy needs to fight live bodies with different styles.

BTW, I don't know why we're talking about Trout because Austin Trout is just not that good to me. I wouldn't be proud to have him as my top win like you do for Lara.

Come on man, Trout got dropped twice by some dude off ESPN. Yes, on ESPN, which is a station you despised for elite fighters to fight on a few posts back.

Tons of people thought Trout beat Canelo. Out of 43 scores collected from press, 19 thought Trout won, and 3 had draws.

I thought he beat Paul Williams rather impressively. I also scored the Canelo fight about 8-4 Lara.

Yeah he did beat Williams for sure...I had it 6-6 in the Canelo fight but it could easily have went either way..

That's my take. At least try to get Lara ... make a reasonable offer, explore the possibility at least. HBO might say no, Haymon might say no, Lara might overprice himself... but at least make the attempt. There really ain't any credible opponents left at 160 for GGG, but I can get the reluctance to go for a SMW opponent whilst the Canelo fight - likely at a CW - remains at least a theoretical possibility.

Lara is a middleweight.....


But, how does that make the slightest difference ?

Golovkin has fought JMW's before, and how would fighting Lara now affect Canelo down the line?

There is nothing in the world to prevent that fight from happening.
