Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: I'm Not Chasing Credit From Critical Fans, Media

By Keith Idec - NEW YORK Angel Garcia considers his son the most underrated fighter in boxing. Danny Garcia has won world titles in two weight classes. Thirty-five fights into a professional career he launched late in 2007, the resilient Philadelphia native has just one loss on his record a split-decision defeat to unbeaten WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman. The 30-year-old Garcia has beaten a long list of former champions that includes Nate Campbell...

I swear these writers pick the most obnoxious pics of the fighter they are writing about on purpose

Have to give it to Ali G, he's whipped himself into shape this time.

In a way, I kinda hate these type fights where I like both fighters.

Having said that, both fighters have + and - issues. As Manny Steward said several years ago, Danny does everything well, just not exceptional. And Porter still hasn't learned how to stop crowding himself. He crowds his punches sometimes, when he needs to step back a half step to be more effective.

Neither fighter has been used up or beaten badly, so they're both close to or at their best. What happens fight night I honestly have no clue for certain.... although I do have a feeling Danny will come thru with a points win. I do not think there will be a stoppage, or either fighter hitting the canvas at all.

Captain F#cking Obvious wrote that article I assume.

The Garcia's have made it known they'll take max money for the easiest fight they can get. I still remember when Danny coulda been among the guys Floyd was handing big checks to a couple years back now & Danny seemed completely disinterested in that fight & iirc said directly he didn't want that fight. So yea no sh^t Danny has no interest in going big with boxing. Its work to him, not a chasing greatness thing.

And thats not even to dog him per se, thats just how he & his father seem to look at his boxing career which isn't an attitude that will endure him to many fans. It will make him some nice cash at the least risk possible in this game & if I was a professional boxer I might have the same outlook honestly cuz no one is gonna give a f#ck about you to help you out once you retire if things go south.

              Tend to agree with you.

To me this is a 60/40 fight Danny's way. The more success Shawn has the more likely it is we see a KD or stoppage (but not necessarily for Shawn as I think Danny could catch a overly confident Shawn with Shawn's sometimes reckless approach coming in), but the more likely scenario is both guys are careful early which lends itself to Danny building a points lead with that pace doing his style more justice & coasting late even if Porter challenges & has some moments in those latter rounds.

Feel like a 116-112/8-4 type decision is what we'll hear.

... in fact, Danny was forced to take three fight:

-- Matthysse and Thurman (forced by his handlers)...
                  -- Porter (forced by WBC)...
