Abel said Gassiev was 192 lbs when he came to him, and Abel bulked him up to (215 or whatever it was) when he fought at cruiserweight, and now he's 225 lbs. I was watching a highlight reel of Gassiev that included early fights, and the contrast between how fast he looked at probably near 200 lbs, vs after he bulked up, is striking. I'm not sure the bigger version is better. For example, check out how fast he was leaned out.

People say Abel made GGG slower & stiffer. Did he do the same to Gassiev?

I never thought the problem was slower or stiffer. That's bullshyt. Your trainer doesn't control that, you do as a fighter. What Sanchez brought was bad gameplanning. That's how you can tell if a coach is truly good or not. How does he pull his fighter out of adversity and bring him to a W? Sanchez has shown an inability to do that.

No
If anything Abel helped them had it not been for him ggg would have most likely suffered a few losses to one of the guys in his bum of the month campaign

Ok I’ll play along.
Why yes it’s all Abel’s fault had it not been for him Ggg would have easily already been a 3 division champ with wins over canelo, Ward, Benavidez and Zurdo ****t who knows had Abel not been in his corner he probably would have moved up to face Usyk at CW too.
And Gassieve would have beaten usyk and he would have moved up by now to knock out Wilder, Joshua and Ortiz all in the same year.
That damn Abel sanchez really prevented these guys from doing great things.
Lol

... what i know is that both GGG and Gassiev are products of the "ex-Soviet school of boxing" -- which is/was quite rigid... I don't think that Abel tried to change those deep rooted fundamentals...

GGG is not slow or stiff. He has never lost a fight in my opinion. He is a little slower at 36 than he was at 27 just like EVERY boxer would be at that age but he is not the least bit slow or he wouldn't land more punches per fight than fast boxers like Jacobs and Canelo.
