Manny never retired, he COULDN'T fight due to ducking the IRS, the shady Lucas fight was a year after Horn and only took that long because he tired to circumvent Arum and fight Khan, who he was at first supposed to fight instead of Horn. That fell through because the date fell on Ramadan, the second time fight fell through because of Arum.

He did retire. Briefly, after the Bradley 3 fight where he became the lineal champ. Floyd was #1 who retired earlier. Pac and Bradley were #2 and #3. Manny came back the same year to fight Vargas but he was no longer the lineal champ when he came back. Had he not retired, with Horn winning on Pac and Crawford beating Horn, Crawford would have been the lineal champ making him #1 in WW division.

I'm not saying Zahir was some legendary fighter, but, "at the end of the day", he holds a win over a prime Morales who holds a win over a prime Manny Pacquiao. Yes, he was battle worn. You would know that if you were following Morales' career. Morales quickly was worn out during or around the Barrera trilogy. He just took so many punishments whenever he fought. Try to see him when he was fighting at the SBW and featherweights, you see what I mean.

Manny wasn't prime also when he lost to Morales 1st time. He had so many boxing flaws before that Morales saw and took advantage. That's why he looked good fighting Manny the 1st and 2nd time.

Objectively speaking, I rank Crawford as a top WW but not P4P yet. At 147, he just hasn�t faced any opponent in which we thought he would have difficulty with. That says a lot.

I�m not faulting him for that. Every boxer has a team, outside advisors, and financial reasons for the decisions they make. He simply has not been given top opponents. Again no fault of his own. I think if it was solely up to Bud he would fight all the top names consecutively. I blame those around him. Dude is getting up there in age and as he slows, young lions as challenging as Spence or worse will start to come up and make it impossible to stay on top.

First of all, Round 8 which was the main round Horn looked vulnerable. He buckled for a second, reset and walked perfectly back to his corner unharmed, uninjured. That told me he was perfectly fine. This isn't like Khan Bambi'd off Maidana. Floyd buckled against Judah, he buckled against Hatton, he buckled against Mosley, he buckled against Cotto. It happens.

Second, Horn is humble. And in humility he asked for a rematch right after the presser. You don't do that if you "had no quarrel" with it. In the ring he didn't have a quarrel because he wanted a rematch and knew that complaining was likely to not get him a rematch.

Third, the fact is we don't know what effect the su****ious hand injury delay had on Horn's training. Asterisk. We don't know what the story is with the shoes. Asterisk. We don't know what would have happened if the fight had gone 12. Asterisk.

That stoppage - seriously, compare what happened in Round 9 to what happened with Thurman in Round 7 against Josesito. Thurman was given a chance despite being in the SAME F'n position, getting hit repeatedly but on the move. It wasn't like Horn was stationary at any point in that round. Yet Thurman is allowed to continue, goes on to win the fight. We just don't know if Horn would or would not have landed a Hail Mary that upset Crawford in Round 12 - again, shades of Chavez/Taylor.

Which is why a rematch really should have happened to give both guys a chance to remove that doubt. When Crawford ducked it, yes, I lost respect for him. And I'm calling out that by now - three fights in, having asterisks on each, and Arum now going backwards in the quality of fighter, it's clear even Arum doesn't have the confidence and can't justify a Spence fight.
