No way Mikey won 8 rounds. In the later rounds he would land one good right hand but Vargas would out hustle him for 2:30 minutes.

A draw would had been fine in this close fight. Mikey is the star and they lining him up for Pac.

It was a good fight though.

To be honest After round 4 I thought Mikey was DONE and shaking my head saying he needs got to 135/140. He still does unless it’s tiny PAC.
No, that card was awful. Vargas deserved a lot more credit than that because he was the one landing the most punches and the cleaner ones too; With his jab, body punching and combos to the head.

I mean even if Mikey got hit more in a round, you have to take in account that he was still hurting Vargas worse even if he landed less. If it was all relative Mikey would have been dropped and swollen up.
This is the key right here. If you use the Max Kellerman "who would you rather have been in that round?" method of scoring then you would give rounds to Mikey even though he threw less punches.

Also, I think Mikey didn't appear to have a sense of urgency because he wasn't worried about Vargas' power after round 4. I think Mikey knew he was doing more damage so he was ok with Jessie opening up more.

The rounds that Mikey won, he definitely won them more convincingly. The later rounds I gave to Vargas were closer but Mikey’s 15 second bursts of damage were not enough for him to win the rounds. And 10-11-12 Mikey was slowing down a lot, and Vargas was much more active and landing some pretty solid shots.

What is your take on the first 4 rounds. I gave them all to Vargas. Mikey only started winning his rounds after the knockdown.

I gave the early rounds to Vargas with his jabs and clean punching to the head. However, as far as the overall fight goes; It could have gone Jessie;s way minus the knockdown. That is what hurt Vargas the most and every time Garcia managed to hurt Vargas he reacted; which is probably what hurt him the most on the three official judges scorecards.

The same Max Kellerman who gave Ward the victory in the first Kovalev fight for doing nothing but surviving?

I had Mikey winning 7 rounds to five plus the KD.
Mikey was Landing the cleaner Harder punches which were having an effect on Vargas. While after round 5 it seemed liked Vargas was throwing to in keep Mikey off him.

I had it 6-6. But I can see 7-5 instead either way. Dan Rafael scored it 9-3 for Mikey and it just makes me wonder how these guys can even publish their own scorecards.
