Comments Thread For: Joshua: If I Was Pulev, I Wouldn't Step Aside To Allow Fury Fight, Either

Anthony Joshua understands Kubrat Pulev's reluctance to step aside and help allow a Joshua-Tyson Fury fight to take place. Bulgaria's Pulev, the mandatory challenger for Joshua's IBF heavyweight title, is supposed to face Joshua next. Pulev and his handlers have repeatedly stated that they have no intention of accepting even a seven-figure step-aside fee to help clear the way for what would be the biggest fight in British boxing history.

Theres never been a reason to accept a step aside fee. Chance at winning boxing's biggest prize is what you're in the game for..

Now if it's Whyte, he'd voluntry step aside for free...

Agreed, the WBC clearly changed rules to allow Wilder to avoid Whyte...a disgrace. I don't blame Wilder, his PBC advisors made more $$$ fighting cans and Fury. I was critical of Wilder's excuses but after seeing Fury beat Wilder so easily I understood why they were soooo reluctant to face Whyte.

That said, the WBC does not get a pass. Suliman's changing rules, franchise moniker and use of PED's distorts rankings to favor high bidder. The WBC is a belt that can be bought.

I wonder if AJ would step aside if he was D.Whyte?

AJ would almost surely loose vs the Fury who destroyed Wilder. Too aggressive, too big, too good overall. So I think it's better, for him, to face Pulev and hope that Fury ruins himself once again, in the meanwhile.
