Hey everybody, I'm new here and I'm 15 years old, 155 lbs, and a little over 6-foot tall. I've NEVER boxed before, I'm wanting to get into the sport and i was hoping ya'll could give me some pointers, so here's a video of me hitting a heavy bag(sorry its only 20 seconds long) I'll appreciate any feedback you can give me! Don't criticize me too much lol

good post, start getting your conditioning up and running and id say start doing this afew weeks before starting up because it will be that much easier to get started ahead. you ever been to a boxing gym before? well from my experiences ill tell you this
*Listen to your coach
*dont get distracted by some of the bs or others that come in
*At first keep to yourself unless you are aproaced(trust me ive heard it tons of times and you guys probly know what im talking about when other guys in the gym see a new kid is there.)
*Its just like real life, theres goona be some weird people there!
*focus foucs focus!
*dont ask or call someone out to spar untill you can hold your own(big mistake new guys make and end up paying for it!)
any other questions you got just pm me.
and by the way i am stating this from my experience and some of the gyms ive seen and train at!

Yup, get to a gym. Youll learn everything there. Im sure your in good shape since your still in school and have physed but start running every other day and do some conditioning (. When your lifting weights keep the reps low and weight high, dont do bodybuilding **** (8-12 reps chest + bis monday back + tris wednesday for example) that **** ruins you for reasons I dont care to type out since its long winded. If you can work any 1 thing make it legs. good luck man keep us posted on your progress.

Your not bad for a 15 yr old who has never boxed before.
A few things you need to work on:
* Throw the punches with your whole body, twist into them. Alot of your punches were mostly thrown using just the arm, especially your jab.
*Get a bigger, heavier bag. This will help develop power and stop it from swinging around wildly.
* Aim up a littile bit, you would of been throwing to his chest if he was your height.
*Throw your punches from your jaw, not from your waist, this isnt Karate
So basically just keep the basics in mind when working the heavy bag, you can learn these basics from a gym or an experienced boxer. Good luck with your boxing!

i dont meen to be mean but guys why are you telling this guy lies?
fair enough he has just begun so its what you expect, but dont tell him he has potential and he good n all that,
he looked like he was randomly shagging that bag, there was no control what so ever and no jabs or anyting or any other proper boxing punches ,
he just showed a random 5 second outburts of he waking a bag?
ok so youve just begun ok..
first slow down, your tryingt way way to hard
learn your punches,
throw to the head, you kept throwing below the head
jab , jab, 1,2 , move, keep your hands up, box!
dont just randomly wack it as hard and fast as you can, its goota be controled and everyting,
your are a beginner so you should olearn, defo joj a boxing gym and learn to box of internet learn your shots, and learn you stance, and learn all the 1,000,000 other thigs there is to learn about boxing
