    Anyone use Protein Pills?

If so what brand? Where do you buy them etc?

I didn't even know you could get protein pills, you would need to take an absolute **** load of them after each workout. Why not just buy a tub of Whey?

Yes.....Branched Chain Amino acid pills....1 with each meal, 2 before you workout and 3-4 after....

1/3 of your skeletal muscle consists of Leucine, Iso-Leucine and Valine....these are BCAA's, they are not synthesized by the human body and must be obtained through diet....

Leucine regulates protein sythesis, recovery and promotes anabolism more effectively then any other amino acid....I believe it to be the most important amino acid as well....

When you workout, your body produces something called 5-Hydroxytryptomine, this is a powerful form of tryptophan which is released into the brain and begins to send signs of mental fatigue with physical fatigue to follow...Leucine competes for the same nuerological receptor and overwhelms 5-Hydroxytrptomine and helps to fight fatigue....Long distance runners and endurance athlets consume high amounts of BCAA's before and after competition....

      Anything else?

What about L-Glutamine? I would have thought that is just as if not more important post workout, due to the fact that it can take up to 6 days to return to normal levels after strenuous exercise without supplementation.

Yes glutamine and L-glutamine are important to prevent catabalism as well as recovery....They play a pivotal role in immune system function and prevent ulcers....they are found in most meat, fish and protein and are easily synthesized by the body....Athletes should consume 11 grams each day, and most likely due so from the foods they eat....supplementation is optional...

BCAA's however are not synthesized by the body and MUST be consumed through diet...Leucine is of greater imortance to supplement and plays a more important role in recovery and anabalism....

That explains it then, I think I will kick the Carnitine out of my supps and replace with BCAA. Although they are quite expensive from what I have seen.
