    Check your Protein powder ingredients...

Awrite folks, I currently get the Designer Whey Protein in natural flavour because I didn't want sweeteners (as they're not to be trusted). But, I just thought I'd check the ingredients for the Vanilla version, unfortunately it does use an artificial sweetener and it's name is Acesulfame-K

I done a bit of research on this chemical and this is what I found:

Basically it is more carcinogenic than aspartame! Read what the link had to say about the FDA. I've known about aspartame dangers for a while now and it's link to neuro-degenerative* diseases but I never knew there was a sweetener out there which was worse!!!

So, if you're at all concerned, check your ingredients label and think about throwing it in the trash and investing in a powder which doesn't include artificial sweeteners.

*Boxers already run a slight risk of brain damage - the last thing we need to do is speed up or multiply that risk by putting toxins like this in our body.

Hope you don't mind but I'm bumping this as I think it's quite important.

Thanks for that. I have the vanilla whey protein and I just read the ingredients and yep there was Acesulfame-K. There isn't much left of the powder so after a use it up I'll stick to the unflavoured and I'll check the ingredients first.
        Thanks.

Just get the "natural" i.e., unflavoured version.

It's really annoying that we're all trying to be in the best shape possible and yet some of these things we consume actually harm us (especially in later life). Always check your ingredients and do as much research as you can on them (bearing in mind none of us, I imagine, have access to a laboratory!)

Yep I use natural as well, tastes like **** but without the other crap that they chuck in there. Just looked and mine has some BCAA's in there as well, so maybe don't need to buy those BCAA tablets after all.

I actually think it tastes nice! Well, I've gone through two tubs so far so I must just be getting used to it!
