    Vegan Diet with exercise...

I'm trying to get my body fat percentage lower, I'm 6ft 170 lbs. I want to lose at least 15 lbs of body fat, I don't really care about what happens to my muscle since it is easy to get back. Does anyone know if vegan diets are effective along with exercise, has anyone ever tried it? My exercises will be running, jump roping, and 30 mins hitting the heavy bag along with toning exercises just about every day. I will be eating a lot of big salads with spinach in them and other vegetables. I will be getting plenty of sleep also which will play a role into how much weight I will lose. Oh and when I hit the heavy bag I go all out on it so I'm sure I'm burning a lot of calories.

no, it's not legit to just eat salad and spinach. vegans eat more than that.

I know, most of my diet will consist of fruits, salads, and vegetables. No meat, no dairy products. Oh and I found some stuff that I can get protein out of.

You'll get lots and lots of protein and energy by eating lentils, also things like aduki beans, chick peas etc. Bear in mind that vegans don't eat any dairy products so getting a balanced nutrition is going to be tough. Do-able, but tough. Check out google for more info on vegan diets. Personally, I would just look at your diet just now to see where you can cut fat from your diet. I'm a vegetarian and did think about going vegan a while back but quickly gave it up when I noticed just how hard it was going to be to feed myself. Plus, I just can't do without my (skimmed) milk!

Cool, I'm vegetarian too. I was vegan for ten years+. Being vegan in the New England area is EASY, as supermarkets like Wegmans have giant health food sections filled with vegan stuff. I live in Denmark, and it's much harder to find anything here, be it at supermarkets or restaurants, so basically I started eating dairy again because it was easier. I must admit that I feel stronger physically now than when I was vegan...

Exactly the problem I had, it was near impossible where I live. And, yes, the calcium and protein's we find naturally in dairy products make them essential, I feel, if you're participating in a physically intense sport such as boxing.
