    F*^?$" knee injury

Seriously pissed off - I was sparring last night and injured my right knee which overextended as I moved back from a punch, putting my full weight on it and it gave way. I thought it was a one off so I ******ly continued sparring but it happened three more times when my right knee was in full lock it felt like it gave way and overextended leaving me off balance. the pain wasnt real bad and I even slowly cycled home. But today it is swollen and painful, I cant fully extend it and its difficult to walk.

About 14 yrs ago I tore my Anterior Cruciate Ligament and had it repaired through surgery (which required a long recovery). I hope its not torn again. going to see a specialist today. these things always seem to happen when you feel like you are nearly 100% fit again. Anyone experienced a similar thing? (looks like you are not alone Danny Stash!)

Get medical help and do whatever the physio says. Non-compliance is one of the reasons why people get re-injured. I do physio exercises everyday and it is getting better and better.

well went to see orthopedic surgeon /knee specialist got Xrays and magnetic resonance scan. Its not totally ****ed but the ligament is a bit loose and a bit of damage done. I can walk okay now, should be able to do some jogging/cycling soon but the doc says I really should have it operated on, its not gonna get better and can give way again. Will cost about $3600 USD for the op, alot less than in the US, but still a fair chunk of money.

Looks like if I am gonna fight again I will need it get it done though, but will need 6 months of recovery to be back full training.

Meantime just hitting the weights. Injuries suck.

bad luck man. Injuries really do suck, especially in boxing. Be sure to do all of the physio exercises that your doctor prescribes, and then some. Work hard to get into full training, and you'll notice how much faster it might take to heal. Best of luck man
