training s. bag gloves (ounce questions)

i notice on title boxing's website, no difference on training vs. bag gloves. well not much. which ounces do you all use for training? my 14 ounce training gloves are useless, hurts my knuckles (cheap everlast gloves, for $30, bought at title). I'm considering the everlast protex 2 or 3 ($99-199) or the Rival High Performance Hook-n-Loop Pro Sparring/training gloves for $120. Is Fighting Sports or Triumph or Warrior training gloves any good? Speak about them only if you have experience or have used them before, not speculations. We all know Everlast is king since they been around forever.

I like the look of Rival plus it has 1.75" of cushioning support. I don't know if Everlast Protex 2 or 3 has it, it's not on the descriptions...

The only thing everlast is king of is making tons of money by making cheap quality gear. Some people say the protex gloves are good but i can't say cause i never tried them, i refuse to buy anything everlast, most of it is garbage.

Personally i have the rival rb1 bag gloves and i can't recommend them enough. The heavier bag gloves they make are 14 oz, but they offer more protection than any 16 oz gloves i ever had.

Grant makes some very good gloves too. Title are okay, but still not as good as rival.

Get ready for a bunch of clowns coming in here telling you to get some cleto reyes. All i can say is don't listen to them, reyes are great fighting gloves but don't offer much protection, aka bad for training.

ok thanks. still didn't get an answer on what the difference is between a bag glove and a training glove, both seem to be for training purposes.

Oh sorry, bag gloves are well, bag gloves, they usually more heavy duty cause hitting the bag is what damages gloves the most.

Training gloves are for pad work, double end bag and stuff like that. They could be used as bag gloves too but i don't suggest it.

well thanks. I am liking Rival products. The product you recommended is what I'm looking at now for a bag glove. I hope you're not kissing Rival's ass and bashing Everlast, cause you're based in Canada and so is Rival. LOL. Just saying...

oh just looked at the Rival website for better pictures of their products, the RB1 Bag glove looks thin to be used for a heavy bag don't you think? You use it for heavy bags?

I never found them too thin, you have to take into account that they are rather big gloves, the 14 oz i have are bigger than my 16 oz sparring gloves. Not as thick but overall they are bigger. Sparring gloves tend to have a lot more padding on the knuckles since you don't really want to cause too much damage sparring.

But i understand what you are saying, if you compare them to the rb20 they are a lot thinner. I haven't tried them, i was expecting to get a pair after the rb1 died on me, but i had the rb1 for over a year and they are still in perfect condition, and i use them a lot, and yes i only hit the bag with them.

And no, before i actually bought rival gloves i had no idea they were manifactured in canada. I was looking to buy some new gloves because i usually went through a pair every 6-10 months. Came on here, saw some people talking about rivals, looked at their site to order some, and i realized their headquarters was located about 20 minutes away from where i live.

I'm not really bashing everlast, it's just that i had some bad experience with them.
