basketball trainers are thick soled and flat so if you're running or doing other workouts on hard surfaces they will protect your feet unlike thin soled boxing shoes...

You can check out or for suggestions on your wide feet (that is if you insist using running shoes). But I must warn you though, it feels totally wrong to use them in a boxing match. I would 100% recommend investing in a pair of proper boxing shoes. I see a lot of people wearing running or tennis shoes when they are boxing training. I guess this is okay for the first few sessions, if you’re a beginner, just starting training and not sure about investing in lots of equipment straight away. Just my 2c.

I'm about to try it, I have long, thin feet and wide finger area. Even daily adidas sneakers hurt my feet really bad on the sides and right above the heel. Today I got me a pair of new balance lightweight running shoes and it felt really good both the time: it's ok when stepping with the heel, and it's even better stepping with the toe. I totally feel the ground.

                What do you guys think?
in boxing shoes you will be less tired of moving faster.
