      Get into position:
      1. left foot flat
      2. right foot on ball
      3. dip left (guard up)
      4. pivot right foot to 12 o'clock

What's happening here is you're powering up.

Then in all in one motion:
      • throw left hook
      • flatton your right
      • left foot on ball
      • pivot left foot to 3:00 o'clock

Play with the weight distribution too.

Once you get the motion like it's second nature, then you can shuffle forward which is pretty much what Morrison did. Dip left to charge up then left hook forward.

Once you perfect that (takes years of focus) you don't need to dip left unless you want double damage.

A true Morrison left hook also requires the juice.

IMO the key to Morrison's left hook was his explosive power, it came with no "tells", a non-telegraphic punch.
And that's what I find so amazing about it. He doesn't telegraph it at all...

              Awesome! Thanks so much guys.

I'm sure Tommy only developed that after years and years of hard work. And i'm sure steroids did play a part in it. But there is something magical about how quick he can throw that shot without telegraphing it

He totally telegraphed his left hook. I was checking a video and his left hook was so wide his left arm was straight. Definitely not the best left hook.

If you want to learn how to throw a perfect left hook and I do mean perfect, start watching Roy Jones Jr film. Jones, Robinson, and Trinidad all had atg left hooks.

                Watch these.

                  It's natural punch leverage.

Some fighters throw certain punches better than others. I remember steward said that about tommy hearns, he never threw the left hook because he couldn't, it just wasn't good no matter what they tried, but the right cross, was just naturally boom.

What IS natural punching power? I feel like that is a mind **** (pardon my language). If you allow yourself to believe other people punch harder because they are more talented, you may never realize you too have punching power waiting to be uncovered because you don't train hard enough.

Tommy Morrison was also RIPPED, he had muscle on top of muscle. Don't you think that contributed to punching power?

It seems like muscle is underrated. I am 174, and I am pretty well built, im only 5'9" but I can hit pretty hard. I think it has to do with my body build and how I have been doing lots of pushups and pullups and working my butt off in the gym building my muscles up, as much as it has to do with my technique. I see other guys in my gym who have arms like toothpicks, and while they have good technique and are quick, they don't hit hard.

I think Tommy probably trained his left hook exclusively, and I'd like to know what kind of trianing techniques he used to develop his ability to explosively leap forward and land his left hook with that much power. I'd also like to know how he set it up.
Morrison had terrific punching power before he got ripped up. In his early days he was on the pudgy side for a fighter.

It's all about technique. Record yourself when you work on the bag so you can fine tune your technique. Most people don't put enough body weight into there punches. Used to be a problem of mine and still probably is to a certain degree. Turn those hips and shoulders and stab your forearm/elbow through the bag.
