    The butt

I was talking to my buddy the other day who told me that alot of the strength in sprinters comes from the butt. He told me the stronger your butt/hams the faster you run.

This intrigued me because a 100M Sprinters run is based on all power. Maybe if you are looking to increase the torque on your punches...butt lifts would be an answer. I know it sounds funny..but you never know.

Anyone know any factual info about this?

This is only half true. Pull power on your legs comes from your butt/hams. "Pull" power is when your lead foot hits the ground and occurs between when your weight transfers to that leg and when the motion turns into a "push." Explosive power in your legs comes from your quads and calves. A strong rear-end and hams would more likely be good for a boxer looking to establish a really strong foundation.
