You ever hear someone walk down the street screaming?

What are some of the things you’ve heard?

I used to live by a bar and another time I lived near a Salvation Army so I’ve seen and heard a lot of crazyness.

I once watched a grown man cry and moan as he walked in circles saying “she knows. She knowwwwws” and then collapse into a field of tall grass and start crying so loud it was like a siren. This was 3 pm.

Got tons of these. What you got?

Say it isn’t so! Wouldn’t have expected that! Which part of the big apple did you grow up in?

Just used apple maps! I see they’re neighbouring areas.

I wanna go to NYC again sometime soon. I went in 2008 when I was studying in Toronto.

It’s a great city! Similar to London in someways but busier and edgier.

I’m big fan of the YouTuber actionkid. He’s a New York
native and he makes walking videos. Goes to literally every corner of the city.

Watched one the other day where he was in Greenpoint. Enjoyed all the Polish history!

The neighborhoods I grew up in were working class and very diverse. Bushwick was very dangerous and by the early 90's one of the worst neighborhoods in the entire city. Gun shots going off all night long. A literal war zone of gangs, drugs, **********s, etc. Now, it's mostly gentrified. Just like Williamsburg and Greenpoint that were once as bad as Bushwick but now considered prime real estate in NY. Bushwick is where the famous mobster Carmine Galante was murdered in the back yard of a restaurant with the cigar still hanging out of his mouth. Just a few blocks from my apartment. Rosie Perez was from my neighborhood too. Best pizza in the city is in Ridgewood/Maspeth, Rosa's Pizza, try the Sicilian slices.

Yeah New York has changed a lot. I guess it’s always been changing.

Williamsburg had been gentrified when I was there. Same with Harlem which was where I was staying. Great hostel, some real characters!

Cheers for the pizza heads up, I certainly love food. Anthony Bourdain visited The Bronx on one of his shows. Would like to try some of the Dominican and Puerto Rican food. Don’t have those communities over here.

I watched another documentary about these illegal restaurants in peoples homes. Popular with S American immigrant communities. Would love try that too!
