I read about this. The amount of money is really absurd. It wasn't like she was making a huge salary and what are the damages to justify that amount of money

In this litigious day and age, 25 big one's sounds fair.
It's Starbucks.
Looks like somebody tried to make it into something it wasn't, she got smeared into being the biggest no-no these days (omg racist), and she won.
Good.
Your whole reputation can be sunk over some bullshit, and wi-fi.
Fucking clown world.

She was awarded 25mil as a punishment to Starbucks, not as damages for her pain and suffering and whatnot.
A million dollars isn't even a punishment for a company that big. 25mil is little more than a rounding error to them, it's enough to make them both looks really bad and think twice before pulling that nonsense again.
Honestly the woman deserves that much for having her career destroyed because some idiots and corporate though it would look good to replace white employees with people of color for PR.
Seems excessive for a Starbucks job. I can imagine if she was some executive somewhere. Not saying she deserved to be fired, but it seems these days every time anyone gets fired they seem to sue their job claiming everything under the sun. I assumed most workplaces are at-will, so they can fire you for any reason they want - other than illegal reasons of course.
