    Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Guns vs Snatch??

    A lot of people consider these the two greatest British movies of all time. Having watched both I can attest that they are genuine quality. There is suspense, a linear plot/story, lots of twists and turns, action & comedy in abundance. Which one out of these two is truly the greatest British movie of all time??

      Both good. Snatch is slightly better.

        I gotta go with Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. One of the most entertaining two hours I've ever had infront of a screen. I was fully into the story and the constant/hilarious twists and turns was EPIC, all these different stories of different characters keep crossing into eachothers stories in epic fashion lol! Lock Stock also had an epic open ending

              ... Both were great movies. Snatch had a better script, though...

                .. that it lifted from the original Italian Job.

                I don't mind these movies, but part of the issue with them is they're effectively pastiches of genuine British gangster movies. They're fun, but they're just throwaway "pop" movies, of no real substance.

                British gangster movies that are better than these two films:

                * Get Carter (NOT the version with Stallone)
                * The Italian Job (NOT the version with Walberg)
                * The Long Good Friday
                * Brighton Rock (NOT the recent remake)
                * ***y Beast

                Other British movies that piss on these two films (shortened list, could run to hundreds):

                * Alfie (NOT the version with Jude Law)
                * The Third Man
                * The Wicker Man
                * Dead of Night
                * Trainspotting
                * 28 Days Later
                * Odd Man Out
                * Kes ("Eh up, mam, he's bummed us kestrel.")
                * Brief Encounter
                * Don't Look Now

                Plus probably any David Lean movie, which I've been a **** and haven't watched.
