They knew that. Baby Lane's uncle said Suge look him in his eyes while Lane fired at them so he knew that Suge knew who did it. Suge probably didn't think they would retaliate so soon being that both sides were out of town. Suge probably thought they would retaliate when the got back to LA. There was a bodyguard in a car behind Suge's though. i remember reading that Suge was chewing him out for not doing his job after the shooting.
