If you can go back to college/learn a trade what would you do?

Lets say you have little to no responsibilities (no kids), you have the time, funding is not an issue, you are lets say 18 years old. What degree would you go for or what trade would you like to go for? To make it more sensible, lets say this 18 year old you has the knowledge of the current you.

I was thinking about this question, I am satisfied with my bachelors degree in Information Technology but if I had all the time in the world, no responsibilities, still living in my parents home, id have gone with Psychiatrist. Why? Because the biology of the human brain interests me and, psychiatrists working for the state of Ohio make, easily, $300k, with max ive seen was $600k+. They do minimal work, low stress level work.

The most work/stress youll go through is probably getting a bachelors degree followed by med school, followed by 4 years of residency. And you will end up like $300k in debt but who cares when you can make $300k a year and get like $150-200k paid towards student loan debt if you work as a doctor in the public sector? For example the state of Ohio offers Psychiatrists $150k to pay towards their student loans if they sign a 5 year contract.

It actually CROSSED my mind a couple of years ago, to major in Biology and go to med school for psychiatry. But I feel im too damn old and I dont want to give 12 years of my life to studying. Plus I love computers/tech/networking/cyber security so im in the field I enjoy.

Just interested to see what some of you woulda liked to do if you can go back in time.

I forgot all about this thread, and it seems like nobody cared about it anyway

I was a CO, and like Ive stated before, I became an IT specialist in the same prison I worked for. As of right now, more COs are needed than IT staff. So as I have stated before, im a (Paid) volunteer CO at the moment until staff (IT, teachers, program staff) come back. That is when the state of Ohio calls off the prison from being at a red level?due to covid.

The prison I work for was so understaffed that they contacted all former COs to voluntarily work at the prison. They also called for COs from other prisons to work overtime (voluntarily). That is on top of hiring a lot of new ones, and also a lot of them quit/retired.

Good thing about it is I get paid as a CO, and get paid my IT pay. The IT work im required to do right now is from home. And since im IT-1, I dont do much.

You would do a great deal of harm in the behavioral sciences due to your post-modern/anti-biology beliefs.

You would attribute chemical disorders to outlandish "social construct" nonsense and cost people their lives by driving them deeper into mental illness.

I've always believed creationists & radical leftists should be prevented from practicing psychology & psychiatry.

This is the thing that I regret most in my life.

            And I have a Bachelor's and a Masters.

I wish I bought some land and got into the farming industry.

I also love getting up very early in the morning before the sun comes out, which is a big plus cause people who have farms have to work in such hours.

I wouldnt go for any degrees. If anything, Id go to an Art school in Korea or Paris and start early.

Id go straight to acting and start early.

                  What did you major in?

Depends what you majored in. If it was a practical degree, you wouldnt have regretted it.

If you go for social science, you need to go all the way for PhD or else its a waste of time.

If you go for a science degree like biology, chemistry, etc, you need to go to med school or else its a waste of time.

Majoring in History, English, etc, you need to go for PhD or else its a waste if time.

I dont even know what to say about business admin, finance, etc.

Basically engineering, computer science, math, nursing are the only good bachelors degrees.

I finished four years got a bachelors. If I would go back it would be for a law degree. But now with a good job and a family its a lot harder.
