    Dan Severn interview recap

    Dan "The Beast" Severn

    - During the past six weeks, he has fought in three cage matches at his professional/amateur wrestling training camp. He started cage fighting in 1993 and plans to keep going until 2004 and told himself he would be retired by the age of forty-six. He still plans to wrestle professionally for a few more additional years. He wants to remain active until the very end, and he doesn't want to have to be watered in the corner.

    - He talked about his camp. It's a 10,000 square foot facility that teaches five days a week. They teach amateur, Greco-Roman, Freestyle, and Professional wrestling. He hopes to hire a few more instructors and provide some additional classes in the various forms of martial arts.

    - Until Ed McMahon comes to his house with a million dollar check, he plans to keep himself busy. He brought up a quote that he lives by given to him from an elderly man who had just relinquished his business at the age of ninety-five: "The harder you work, the luckier you get."

    - He talked about being contacted for the first NWA TNA PPV and how they stripped him of the NWA Title because he had other commitments. He said that he wasn't available only for the first Wednesday show. He doesn't know why they couldn't have held off one week and he felt that they didn't need to have a title change on the first show. He talked about being presenting a special version of the NWA belt by Lou Thesz, and how touching it was to get that kind of endorsement.

    - He said the people ask everyday if he really has heat with Ken Shamrock. He said to be honest, he really doesn't know Shamrock personally. Their only time together was in an Octagon exchanging blows. He said that he has never watched his own matches, and the Shamrock/Tito Ortiz fight was the first time he actually sat down and watch a UFC show. He was in Ken's corner, and felt sorry for him during the fight.

    - He brought up how there were WWE negotiations for almost a full year, and he told them he was going to honor all the previous commitments that he had. He said that money didn't matter, and when he gets booked, he goes through with it. He said that the longer he's around professional wrestling, the less he understands it because it does not follow regular business format at all. He has always given a straightforward answer to people, and doesn't get involved in poltics and doesn't understand why there is so much of it when wrestling is just fantasy.

    - He finished up by talking about some of the other projects he is currently working on. Check out the-dangerzone.com the-beast.com for the latest on Dan Severn
