    K-1

does anyone follow this? I know it's kick boxing, but that's still a Mixed Martial Art right?

anyway for those who know/care August 9th is supposed to be a K-1 event with Butterbean fighting in it, for those who know/want to know

I like to watch it when I get a chance, I'll have to try to catch that event. Looks like Bean is fighting Cabbage Correira.

a reply. woot woot. yeah that's the same link I found.
      (K-1 official website)

i heard somewhere that Schilt and Aerts were talking about fighting again .. but I don't know the exact truth of it and how that relates to the 2008 Grand Prix

as I believe K-1 also has an individual Super Heavyweight Title to go with there Grand Prix tourney's.

hope we can find some more people on here who know/follow K-1 as im kinda outta the loop since it's not really covered all that much in the States (they used to have some old fights on ESPN2 I believe.)

I didn't even notice that it was a grand prix lol.

Looks like Butterbean and Mighty Mo may finally meet in the semis, though Mighty Mo may not make it out of the first round.

yeah I think all the K-1 events are referred to as a Grand Prix of some kind or another, and all these GP's are building up to the World GP Final which is in December.

so the upcoming tourney next Saturday (link you gave me)
all the winner gets is a spot in the "final 16 Elimination" which is in September

found out somewhere that Mo's opponent was a former American Gladiator

well The Fight Network (if you've heard of the channel)
apparently showed the World Grand Prix Final last year.

unfortunately though that channel is unavailable in the USA.

yeah K-1 seems pretty dead in the States, it's too bad, i wonder though if there are any available links for the fights.

Actually I think Grand Prix just refers to the tournament format. (i.e., Pride openweight Grand Prix; Dream Lightweight grand prix; Dream Middleweight Grand prix, etc. were all tournys).

I see what your saying that this is in effect a qualifyer event though. I really hope that The Battle of the Fat Punchers between Bean and Mighty Mo happens, I think it was suppose to happen in Cali some years back bat the ****ing CSAC killed it (worst commision in MMA/etc.).

I actually don't know anything about Mo's opponent, other than that it says in the link that he's 5-1 and 6'9 270 lbs.

It'll be funny to see Bean in a kick boxing match.

yeah just heard a radio interview, and Mo's opponent is in the new 2008 version of American Gladiators

not the original one, with Nitro, Gemini etc

who knows how good he can be as a fighter though as his record shows how in experienced in the ring he is.
