I've been wondering for so long why ESPN jumped on the Ronda bandwagon so fast and covered her way more than they ever covered Anderson, GSP or any other MMA fighter for that matter. Now I know why.

Womens MMA was not as established as it is now. InvictaFC gets a good amount of exposure compared to other male promotions such as Cage Rage/BAMMA for e.g. Ronda is an Olympic Medalist also AND she has been finishing people in the first round consistently. She is like Tyson in women terms, remember Tyson in the 80's just running through everyone? She is doing that to the women. She needs to fight other top fighters like Coenen/McMann/Cyborg to prove that she is the undisputed queen imo. Carano also was not as active as a fighter either, if you look at her resume...Oh and another reason is because there weren't enough QUALITY female fighters around at the time and Strikeforce/EliteXC did not have as much money/platform as the UFC to advertise/promote their fighters.

oh damn. Carano's popularity back then destroys Ronda's popularity now.

but that still doesn't go against my point. I was talking specifically about ESPN not the general popularity. If anything this only more so proves my point because Carano was WAAAY more popular 4 years ago than Ronda is now yet ESPN still didn't talk about her nearly as much as they do Ronda.

Regardless I think Ronda deserves all this attention but still not happy about her main event fight taking 2 rounds away from Machida-Hendo.

Machida will probably get finished by the second round anyway, so don't worry too much about it. I'm thinking first or second round TKO for Hendo. Of course, I could be wrong though. I don't really like too many 5 round fights anyway, most fighters are winded after 3.

As for Rousey, yeah she's kinda cute, nowhere near as hot as Gina IMO or even as cute as Miesha. Too muscular for my tastes. I'm more into something a little curvier, like Kat Dennings or Christina Hendricks. I think it has more to do with the fact that she's kind of cute, very outspoken, honest, likeable and, of course, is running through every opponent easily. Good Tyson analogy too. Some were saying that they didn't find her exciting because her fights were ending too quickly but remember when Tyson was knocking almost everyone out in the first round. Plenty of fans turned out to see him then and plenty will pay to watch Ronda. She's bound to find an opponent she can beat with a different submission, by KO and one that lasts past the first round.
