Andre Ward eats, sleeps, drinks and lives boxing. He's been fighting all his life and hasn't lost a fight since he was 14.

He wants to get paid based on his talent but isn't willing to budge to make the big fights. If you want to be a boxing superstar your opponents expect to get paid well to fight you.

Sullivan Barrera is a promising fighter who can win a alphabet title. Pay this man.

That's all this is about. Not that "he's just fighting for paydays"... He just doesn't understand that skills alone don't always pay the bills. There are other factors that are required of fighters on that level.
If Ward really wanted to fight he could've fought a hell of alot more than he has, and he would've made decent money for it in the meantime. If he was itching to fight, he would've had his 3 tune-ups done by last fall. But instead he's demanding a certain amount of money for opposition that would push him less than what he gets in sparring. In the meantime he kills his own market value staying inactive making himself worth even less.

And why bring up Golovkin? When that guy had an issue with his previous promoter, he left the company setup his own promotional outfit and stayed busy off tv in Panama & Kazakhstan. Ward & Garcia just sit and pout.

I had a sick burn all laid out about the people bitching about Barrera's boxrec rating pointing out Tuerano Johnson is the 22 ranked MW by their lofty, inscrutable standards.

Forget the fight, I want the pwn.

      Now I got nothing.
Funny that they make BoxRec ratings credible all of the sudden. Sometimes you just have to load up the Chromecast and actually watch these dudes fight.

      Barrera is a dangerous fight.

Ward's management issues came after he unified the division and won the lineal title. Why would he go fight in Panama at that stage in his career when he was the man to beat in that division? He was worth a lot more at that stage i n his career. Those situations aren't remotely comparable.

From his perspective, he cleaned out his division and became the true champion. So now, he wants to be rewarded. That's all it is.

His issue is his he thinks he's worth more than he is and doesn't want the outside stuff that comes with being a boxing star: promoting yourself, staying in the public light, giving opponents their biggest paydays, etc.

It's hard to stay active in boxing given the amount of negotiating it takes to make a fight and getting opponents approved.

I think so as well. Whatever the case, he is a lot better and more legit than the bullshit they were trying to dig up for Ward's appearance on the Cotto-Canelo card.

Frustrating as hell being a Ward guy over the last few years, honestly.

Barrera is better than Yunieski who was getting a lot of attention after the Pascal fight. I thought we were going to get 3 fights this year: Barrera, Brahmer and Kovalev. That type of run would put him at the top again but it looks like he's having his typical Ward moments.

                Of course he doesn't know.
He'll know when they over pay him again.

I didn't imply that Ward would literally have to fight out of the country, he had the option of fighting out his contract, instead he sued his promoter.
He signed a deal with Goosen and was being paid satisfactorily for it. He said his primary issue with Goosen was that Goosen wasn't sharing his promoter fee with Andre Ward's other promoter (the guy who bought out Roy Jones - but didn't do any actual promoting for Ward). Ward didn't want to pay the other promoter from his money, he wanted Goosen to share his side with this other guy and to also share his contact/connections too.

Ward was happy to fight Dawson & Pavlik, but later wanted that kind of money for Sartison and Truax and HBO said no, not Goosen.

It sounds like we agree on Ward's latest issue. He signs with RN in March '15 and still doesn't take fights to rebuild his image and make himself worth more.

Andre Ward is starting to sound like a great myth in boxing. When he does fight he can be the greatest thing..

                      Interesting.

Some fans don't want to hold fighters accountable for their decisions. Ward messed up and there's nothing wrong with saying he did. He's s grown man who signed paperwork saying he'll fight X amount of fights for X amount of dollars and most expect that to be against satisfactory opponents.
