Comments Thread For: Amir Khan: I'd Need 6 Months of MMA Training For McGregor

"I think a Conor McGregor fight would be massive. It would be a full MMA fight as I'm not scared of him," he adds with a UFC strap wrapped around his waist.

Former world champion Amir Khan believes he would require at least six months of serious Mixed Martial Arts training to properly prepare for a fight with UFC featherweight world champion Conor 'The Notorious' McGregor.

I just don't understand Khan - is this all to keep his name relevant? I hope so!

He is rapidly approaching the stage where nobody will take him seriously for anything...

I'm a Khan fan, but he's embarrassing himself here.

I understand the need to me keep yourself relevant and give interviews, etc. But for the love of God, stop acting like a whore! He's mentioning anything and everything to get headlines, and in the process is looking like a tit. He's cheapened himself to the point where the top promoters and fighters will no longer want to bother themselves with him.

Concentrate on getting your hand better and staying healthy, and aiming for Garcia in a couple of fights. We don't want to see you shame yourself further by getting knocked out by an mma fighter.

Actually Amir needs 6 more months to recover from that Canelo right hand!

Your average of the street 150 pound BJJ blue belt would mop the floor with Amir in a cage... this is a swing and a miss... he has a better shot against Kovalev. Needs to focus on Danny

Khan is through in boxing so it's time to go to the MMA.

He's just trying to keep his name out there. I'd imagine he has zero interest in getting into MMA and is just saying such things for column inches, like the whole Mayweather and McGregor thing before him.

Although i don't many people are interested in the story anyway. It's not going to spike the same attention.

If this is just talk from Khan to get publicity, then yeah, he should drop it.

But if he's serious, then why not give it a go? No world class boxer anywhere near his prime has ever fought in the octagon. 6 months is maybe a little optimistic, but if Khan dedicated himself for a year to learning how to resist take-downs and defend against grappling submission moves I'd pick him to KO McGreggor or any other MMA fighter his size.
