In every Don King contract is a provision that in the event of a purse bid, there is an "intangible value" in DKP winning the bid and controlling the event, which may necessitate DKP bidding over market value to win the bid, therefore fighter, recognizing this intangible value, allows promoter to deduct 25% of the winning bid purse split.
This is not an uncommon clause. And if K2 has it in their GGG contract, they could bid $6 million, and pay jacobs $1.5 million and GGG only $3.375 million instead of $4.5 million.
Im not saying K2 has that in their contract, because I dont know if they do or dont. But you saying that there is no way GGG could be "flexible" is simply not accurate.
I dont know why you always sound so sure about things you obviously know nothing about.......Last edited by OnePunch; 09-11-2016, 06:49 PM.

Seems golovkin's promoter wants saunders. Makes sense given that a fight with saunders brings more money than one with jacobs. Plus its an unification bout. If wba wants to strip ggg then so be it. Jacobs had his chance and ducked and the wba had the chance to enforce jacobs to fight ggg or lose the title and they didnt.

Think both sides agree to fight March/April/May next year when HBO has the $ for it
GGG fights Saunders in the UK in Dec and Jacobs takes the rest of the year off

Assuming that such a provision is in Golovkin's contract (why Golovkin's manager would let Golovkin sign something that lets a promoter take 25%, on top of their own share, on a fight is beyond me), K2 is still on the hook for nearly $5m, plus the other costs related to putting on the event.
Does K2 have the juice to risk $5m to stage a fight for Golovkin? Not so sure.

I dont know if that provision is there or not. I know its in DKPs contracts, and I saw it in another one, but I cant remember if it was Main Events or maybe Star Boxing. I dont know, its been awhile and I dont remember.....
as for K2 having the "juice", the Klitschkos are quite wealthy and could likely pay whatever they wanted, if they so chose to. As far as sensible economics are concerned though, I think any bid up to around 6.5 million would be relatively safe. They would really only need to do around 250k buys, and a solid live gate in order to cover the expenses.

Beyond that, it's not all win for anyone, because Golovkin has shown the world, on many an occasion, that he's there to be hit and Jacobs has shown, on many an occasion, that he's got the ability to hit pretty friggin hard. You add that Jacobs walks into any fight with legit straight boxing skills (while also being comfortable southpaw/orthodox) and it's no wonder why Team Golovkin goes to such pains to only mention Jacobs' name when absolutely necessary.
Ignore the reality all you want, but Haymon isn't going to have to bid anywhere near $6m for the fight, for the simple fact that K2 isn't going to bid anywhere near $6m.
$3m to Golovkin/$1m to Jacobs is, in my opinion, going to be the split of the bid and, simply put, I don't see K2 having the confidence to put down anywhere near that amount of money, out of their own pocket, on any Golovkin fight.
I can see DiBella/Haymon laying out the $4m on Jacobs; win or lose, Golovkin-Jacobs is Daniel Jacobs' shot at superstardom. With the fight in play to happen before his 30th birthday, Team Jacobs could easily be looking at a 5-year run for Jacobs to cash out on.
Dude they already offered Jacobs a guarantee of 2 Quillins. Whatever that means, it's a combined total of 5m minimum, plus some upside for both. A purse bid is way more favorable to them. They get the guy for less
You keep telling me how much bigger this fight is than Lemieux and how there's all this windfall in store for Jacobs if Haymon wins the bid. Besides the obvious split advantage, who do you think is more likely to make this upside happen? The guys that get 380k viewers and 8500 tickets sold for the Jacobs Quillin NYC megafight, or the guys that got a Kazakh selling out Msg (and everywhere else) and quadrupling those ratings vs the likes of Wade.
