In fairness, the bellew loss was the best thing that ever happened for Haye's career After his humility in defeat, the public's opinion softened on him somewhat and that seemingly opened up punditry work and helped keep him relevant.

Was this guy ever relevant? I mean outside of the UK I never heard anyone say they would be watching the Haye fight on Saturday. Did not even know this guy existed until he fought klitchsko... and after that he vanished again!!!

He still probably made $20 million plus from that comeback, not bad for somebody with a destroyed body. He won my respect in the first Bellew fight, i still don't know how he managed to fight after achilles ruptured (after that he was never going to be the same).

And not just did he make $20 million plus, his injury helped Bellew probably earn $20 million as well, as he was definitely not earning big checks until then so the rematch got him huge coin and then his last fight with Usyk.

Overall probably one of the most under-rated fighters in the past 20 years, an ATG at Cruiserweight and was just too small at Heavyweight (and unfortunately very injury prone).

Overall probably one of the most under-rated fighters in the past 20 years, an ATG at Cruiserweight and was just too small at Heavyweight (and unfortunately very injury prone).

Let's be honest, though, and check the crude facts beyond the memory. Mormeck was a solid fighter but not an ATG, so wasn't Haye. His only defense after that was against no-hoper Maccarinelli.

Then an immediate jump to heavyweights, an alphabet trinket won against a freak who could not box, defended against no less than John Ruiz and Audley Harrison, and mostly remembered for the little toe farce after Klitschko whitewashed him.

Not to mention being knocked out by Carl Thompson, even if Haye was still green then.

Not exactly the stuff of legends. Again, he made millions with the little he had.

David Haye should of retired after the first Bellew fight, that was the perfect time to retire. As he had gained massive amounts of admiration from the boxing world, for his courage's effort.

During the entire build of the second fight, he was searching for himself 'Just as a man, and he has not been the same since in my opinion' Deep down he still detests the fact that Tony Bellew has beaten him.

Haye is far to matey matey these days, and it is because of the effects of his loss to Tony Bellew.
