    Is that why we are expanding our basing rights in Philippines closer to the Taiwan strait?

    Is that why we always fly planes and sail ships thru the Taiwan strait?

Will the ******** be waving Taiwan flags the way they do Ukraine flags in a show of support? *****'s shady business deals with China while VP will allow China to move on Taiwan in the next two years.
      1. Ukraine was already independent. Since 1991 with the breakup of the soviet union.

      2. The status quo is that Taiwan is not a separate country.

      Both China and Taiwan claim to be "china".

      currently

      China = communist China

      Taiwan = nationalist China

      They both claim to be the govt of China but nationalist China KMT only controls Taiwan while communist China controls the rest

        Ukraine doesn't build advanced chips.

        They farm and export that, I suppose.

        I don't picture the earth going up in a plume of smoke or anything. I picture more of an economic & supply chain collapse that leads to enormous death and destruction, and other smaller wars over limited resources.

        The actual war would just turn parts of Taiwan and the ocean and maybe some parts of China or other nations into corn dust, and not the entire world.

          is just posturing, who knows but i struggle to see what america would gain from going into a full scale conflict with china in another part of the world and why the american public would be behind that... taiwan might get the ukraine treatment from the west thats about it... china isnt iraq, afghanistan or vietnam you are talking a hell of a lot of casualties if you got into a war with them even if you ended up managing to defend taiwan which im not sure you could these days

            Amphibious assaults are hard

            Only the US has done it on a big scale in 80 yrs

            No matter how crappy and small the Taiwanese military is

            They will outnumber whatever China could send

            Maybe if China sends them on civilian cargo ships

            But anti ship missiles and drones and aircraft would wipe those out

                Goodbye to Taiwans independence? Taiwan is not independent, its part of China, its official name is Republic of China. The difference between mainland china and Taiwan is the government, one being Commies the other not.

                  The current Tsai Ing-wen administration of Taiwan maintains that Taiwan is an independent country and conducts official diplomatic relations with and is recognized by 12 member states of the United Nations and the Holy See. China has a different view.

                    Status quo is good.

                    Gives us time to arm Taiwan more (we were reluctant to arm them before) and also get our navy in order with the constellation class frigates being built.
                    President Tsai Ing-wen has been in power since 2016 defeating KMT, and considers Taiwan already independent.

                      She wants independence as Taiwan

                      The country is already independent as the republic of China ROC(claiming all of china)

                      Remember

                      Until 1971 ROC "china" was represented by the govt in Taiwan

                      And most of the world recognized it as "china" and had embassies for the Taiwan govt

                      The only ones who recognized the peoples republic of China PROC as china before 1971 was other commie countries
